Everyone has an important role to play in the economy, Skills 2 Work is a fully funded welfare to work training programme specifically developed for the elder community aged 50 and over to develop their skills to meet the needs to today’s employers and bring them closer to the labour market.

All Job Centre Plus customers who are of the age of 50 and over and receiving Job Seekers Allowance (JSA), Incapacity Benefit, Income Support or Employment and Support Allowance (ESA) can join the programme through referral by the Jobcentre for a meeting with our advisor. This programme is also open for you if you are not receiving any benefits but are actively looking for a job and want us to help you find your most suitable job. If you have a more specific need which this programme doesn’t address, the advisor will forward you to another training provider that will be of more use.
We work by giving FREE face-to-face advice, helping you shape and develop your ideas. Your advisor also acts as a mentor, supporting you as you overcome any practical and psychological barriers in your return to work. They will forward you to other programmes to help you to improve your skills and gain the latest qualifications suitable to the job role you are looking for. They will help you to build your CV and prepare you to succeed in interviews through role plays and group sessions. They will find you work placements to gain real-time work experience. You will also have access to computers and the internet to facilitate your job search.
Our experienced team of Business Development Officers are developing new initiatives to persuade employers that experience and skills from the elder community are valuable assets that can make a real difference to the success of their businesses and source vacancies to your employment advisors who will arrange the interviews for you.

- Success in gaining employment….and/or the skills and confidence to continue looking for work on your own:
- Skills and confidence required by employers e.g. IT
- Job Search that suits your vocational interests
- Valuable work experience by taking part in work placements with local employers

The Skills 2 Work programme is delivered from our centres based in Redbridge (Ilford), Haringey (Selby Centre) and Enfield (Watkins House). You can join in any centre that suits you. Please go to ‘Our Locations’ for more details on our centres.
No, this is a fully funded FREE course by the London Councils and European Social Fund for unemployed clients aged 50 and over.
We also pay towards your travel expenses to get to and from 5E Ltd.
