Projects

You can visit us at the Selby Centre, and together we will decide what project would suit you best. We would discuss the following questions:   Where are you now?   Together we would work out where you are in life at the moment. We might discuss things like whether or not you are working, what your current skills are, where you are living, whether you have time to study, if you are busy looking after children, if you’re receiving income support, have difficulties with English etc

Where would you like to be?   Then we take a look at your hopes for the future. Are you about to start work for the first time or are you hoping to make a career change? Maybe you would like help with applying for jobs, or finding a work placement. It could be you’d simply like a better CV or more confidence in speaking English, or maybe you want to challenge yourself and gain an expert knowledge in computer technology.   How are we going to get there?

Wherever you are now, and whatever your aspirations, 5E has many projects to choose from to get the perfect combination of training or support to suit your individual needs. Together we’ll find the best project for you.

Why so many projects?

5E’s aim is quite simple: to provide training and access to information to enable people to get work. You’ll see from the descriptions above that this aim is common to all the projects we offer. Why, then, is this service divided under different project names, when they seem to offer the same service? There are three reasons for this:
-      Each project has a different funding body behind it, who  decides the group we target and the methods we use –the project names come from them
-      Some of the projects have different target groups in mind
-      Some projects have the same aims but use different methods

Please note:

As we are a government-funded training provider, all projects listed above and the courses offered on them are only available when the government allocates us enough money to run them. We try our best to keep the website as up to date as possible, but it may be that some of the projects listed above have come to an end, and new ones may have recently started.
