This qualification is aimed at employees who already have some knowledge and experience in the subject and want to improve or want recognition of their skills in systems support.
The course is designed to cover all aspects of computer maintenance, troubleshooting and repair for both software and hardware.
It focuses on understanding computer systems and the skills needed for assembling and upgrading computer systems.
The course also includes the installation of operating systems, such as Windows 98 and 2000 Professional, and learning how to troubleshoot hardware and software.
It can be taken as a refresher course for the experienced, or as a training course for novices working in the field.
To achieve this qualification, candidates need to complete 5 City & Guilds units which is equivalent to the industry recognised A+ qualification.
Course Content
By the end of the course you will have successfully completed the following four key areas and demonstrated the essential abilities and knowledge required to attain the City and Guilds Diploma:
- Maintain equipment and systems
- Install and configure ICT equipment and operating systems
- Install, configure and maintain software
- Provide customer support
- Install, configure and test ICT Networks
Duration
This is a flexible course, lasting from 3 – 6 months (3.5 months on average). Evening and weekend classes are available.
