IT Level 1 Introducing Computers

No matter where you work or what your job involves, there’s a good chance a computer will be a basic tool you’ll be expected to use.

It is in your best interests to develop the skills you need to use a computer confidently – it might help you get a job, it will make it easier for you to advance in your career and help you to do your job more quickly and easily.

This course will help you to understand how computers work. The first section, Concepts of IT, will give you a good basic understanding of computers. You’ll find out what’s contained in a typical desktop computer, what’s meant by ‘hardware’ and ‘software’ and what people mean by a ‘computer network’.

The second section of the course, Using Your Computer, will teach you the basics of looking after your computer, managing and organising your files and protecting your work from security threats such as viruses.
