If looking after people comes naturally to you or if you want to make a career as a professional care worker then you can choose to do an NVQ in Health and Social Care. Depending on your skills and past experience you can take up a relevant course.
Health and Social Care Level 2
This NVQ is designed for Health Care Assistants, Home Care Assistants and Care Workers involved in the day-to-day care of individuals. This NVQ is the required qualification for 50 per cent of the workforce in care homes for older people as recommended in the National Minimum Standards from the Care Standards Act 2000.
Health and Social Care Level 3
This NVQ is for employees who are already working as Senior Health Care Workers or have satisfactory experience in care where, in their current employment, there are opportunities for acting as a team coordinator. It will enable candidates to develop more specialist competencies for use in the health and social care sector and recognises the growing breadth of skills of those in the health and social care workforce.
