AAT Level 1 Award in Accounting (AAT Access) offers a basic introduction to help students develop essential business and finance skills. This qualification consists of four units and one assessment.

Covering the basic core areas in accounting and finance, students learn how to apply their newly developed skills to the workplace – ensuring they’re well placed to meet demands of working life from local businesses to multinationals.

AAT Level 1 Award in Computerised Accounting

The Level 1 Award in Computerised Accounting consists of two units and two assessments, providing an introduction on how to utilise a computerised accounting software package. The qualification enables students to become confident in carrying out routine accounting tasks on any computerised accounting package.

AAT Level 1 Certificate in Accounting

The Level 1 Certificate Accounting consists of 11 units and five assessments.

The qualification has been designed to help target the issues of the lack of literacy, numeracy and employability skills currently in the UK. In addition, this qualification aims to increase the availability of employment-ready candidates amongst long-term unemployed young people. This new level 1 builds on the Access qualification, introducing units covering bookkeeping, payroll and computerised accounts to provide an all-round introduction for students.

The Level 2 Award in Accounting Skills to Run Your Business is a short qualification which provides an introduction for those who are new to finance. The qualification consists of four units with one assessment. It is designed for those wishing to start their own business and require a basic level of accounting and finance knowledge. This qualification will ensure students have a level of understanding to effectively prepare them to start and run a financially healthy business.

The qualification covers how to manage a healthy budget and cash flow, as well as gaining an in-depth knowledge of financial documents and working more effectively with the business’ accountants.

AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting – Level 2

The purpose of the AAT Foundation Certificate in Accounting is to offer grounding in the core accounting knowledge and skills needed to progress either to employment or to further study. This qualification is suitable for young people who have just left school as well as for adults returning to work after a break or for anyone wishing to change career.

This qualification comprises five mandatory units that cover a range of foundation accounting and finance skills, giving a total of 240 guided learning hours.

AAT Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping

The purpose of the Foundation Certificate in Bookkeeping is to ensure students have the solid bookkeeping skills necessary for most finance roles. Students will develop practical accountancy skills in the double-entry bookkeeping system and in using associated documents and processes, as well as dealing with VAT ad trail balances while developing their understanding of the relationship between various accounting records.

This qualification comprises two mandatory units, and has a total of 105 guided learning hours.

AAT Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping – Level 3

The purpose of the Advanced Certificate in Bookkeeping is to ensure that students have the advanced skills necessary to work in a bookkeeping role or to progress to higher level accountancy. Students will develop skills and knowledge required to complete complex bookkeeping transactions while gaining an understanding of the advanced bookkeeping principles and concepts, issues around indirect tax (VAT) and how to prepare financial statement. This will all be learnt within the context of the ethical issues that a bookkeeper may encounter in their professional life.
