International Students

The 5E College of London is an exceptionally welcoming place to be. Our staff members come from over 80 different countries and are conversant in over 45 world languages. It is our aim to make your time in London as comfortable and fulfilling as possible.

Working
As a student in the UK you are allowed to work up to 20 hours per week (for PG Diplomas and Masters Courses) and for 10 hours per week for Undergraduate Courses (Diplomas), and on a full-time basis during approved holiday periods. If you intend to work, you will need to apply for an NI (National Insurance) number, which is a reference number for the whole benefits and tax credits system in the UK. Your NI number will be used for making tax and National Insurance deductions and for other entitlements. To apply for an NI number you need to call 0845 600 0643 (8 am to 6 pm, Monday to Friday) and provide certain personal details. We will provide you with all the assistance to get an NI number.

Bank Accounts
We will also provide information on banks in the area that are willing to help international students when you arrive in the UK. You will need the following documents to open a bank account in the UK:

  • your passport
  • a letter from 5E College of London confirming that you are a student
  • a document confirming your address in the UK
  • a document confirming your overseas address

English Classes
We provide English classes for those who would like support with their language skills. Courses cost £1000 and run over a six month period. We can schedule your sessions to suit your existing timetable.
