The International Association of Book-keepers (IAB) was established in 1973 and is the leading international membership body for professional book-keepers. IAB specialises in providing high quality financial and business qualification managers and professionals worldwide. The reliability and quality of the IAB qualifications is evident through the recognition status granted by the Qualifications and Curriculum Authority (QCA) and also through the accreditation of its qualifications in England by the QCA and also by the regulatory authorities in Wales and Northern Ireland. At the time of publication, most of the IAB qualifications are eligible for government funding in the United Kingdom.

The IAB is also an approved body in the United Kingdom for the purposes of the Money Laundering Regulations 2007. This means that its members are who are in practise are supervised by the IAB, including with the aim of ensuring that those members fulfil their obligations under these regulations. This is an important role for the IAB as it is now a statutory requirement in the United Kingdom that all providers of accountancy services to clients are either registered with and supervised by an approved body (which the IAB is) or otherwise registered and monitored by HM Revenue and Customs.
