Certificate in Business Accounting (Semester 1 – 6 months)

The overall aim of this qualification is to accredit candidates’ knowledge and understanding of the fundamental principles concerned in the use of a manual accounting system. Within the qualification, candidates have the opportunity to gain knowledge of basic manual bookkeeping routines concerning the documentation and processes related to making and receiving payments.

They will gain an initial insight into both cash and credit business transactions, VAT and other manual routines. The qualification requires candidates to understand those transactions that are necessary for the day-to-day function of an accounting system and for processing of simple documents. Accuracy, integrity and security of data should always be uppermost in the candidates mind.

CERTIFICATE LEVEL

  • Proficiency in Mathematics and English

MANAGERIAL LEVEL

  • CIMA Certificate in Business Accounting
  • A degree in Accounting or Business
  • Local Country Equivalents

STRATEGIC LEVEL

  • CIMA Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting
  • Relevant Degree

General Entry Requirements

  • IELTS – Band 5/5.5 or ESOL Cambridge Certificate in English at Level 1 OR evidence of English as a medium of education in the last three years of study

Certificate Level: £2400 (6 months)
Operational/Management Level: £4900 (Yr 1)
Strategic Level Course Fee: £4900 (Yr 2)

The Qualification covers four sections:

Candidates will need to complete the following modules to achieve the Certificate in Business Accounting:

  • Fundamentals of Management Accounting
  • Fundamentals of Financial Accounting
  • Fundamentals of Business Mathematics
  • Fundamentals of Economics for Business
  • Fundamentals of Ethics, Corporate Governance and Business Law

On successful completion of the Certificate in Business Accounting candidates will progress towards their Diploma in Management Accounting which includes:

  • Enterprise Operations
  • Performance Operations
  • Financial Operations

After the completion of the Diploma in Management Accounting candidates will progress towards the Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting which includes:

  • Enterprise Management
  • Performance Management
  • Financial Management

On achievement of the Advanced Diploma in Management Accounting, candidates will progress towards the CIMA Strategic Level. In Year 2, the following modules will be undertaken:

  • Enterprise Strategy
  • Performance Strategy
  • Financial Strategy

On successful completion of Year 2, candidates are eligible to do industrial placements alond with the Test of Professional Competence in Management Accounting which includes:

  • Initial Professional Development – Work-based practical experience
  • Case Study – Examination based on pre-seen and unseen material
