   RECENT NEWS

29.06.2009Train to Gain Places available from September
Pre-employment and in-work training will not suffer due to the recession, according to recent LSC update. Good news for individuals and businesses benefiting from Apprenticeships and in-work training programmes such as Train to Gain! LSC has clarified concerns over Budget 09, announced in April, stating: “The government recognises that cutting spending in a recession would harm economic recovery and would prove costly in the long term.” So instead of cuts, they’re actively increasing the spending in this area. Over ₤100m is to be invested in pre-employment training places for apprentices, young adults and the unemployed, meaning that training places will be available at 5E from September. See Train to Gain and Modern Apprenticeships for more details.
15.04.2009New Train to Gain Flexibilities
Train to Gain is offering the flexibility of allowing individuals to complete their courses even if they are threatened with or made redundant. Pre-employment support is being offered for the newly redundant to help people refresh their skills when they get into a new job in order to help progression into sustainable employment. Furthermore, individuals who are doing voluntary work for less than 16 hours are now able to enroll on NVQ courses.
